Tuesday, July 16

8:30 a.m.: A Santa man complained that his neighbor’s chickens were destroying his garden. He said he’d tried to speak to the owner, but nothing had been done about them. He said he would start killing them if they continued.

3:41 p.m.: A man in Plummer rolled his ATV down a hill while on a ride near town. The driver said they did not require medical, but the ATV was believed to be in pieces.

Wednesday, July 17

10:35 a.m.: A DeSmet resident asked for contact with a deputy to speak about some break-ins in the area.

3:29 p.m.: A Fernwood resident who said she had been missing a power tool for several years said she believed she saw it at a pawn shop in the area. She provided the model number.

Thursday, July 18

5:52 p.m.: A St. Maries caller said they kept getting scam calls from the Police Association, and asked if the sheriff’s office called go campaign for money. Dispatch confirmed that the sheriff’s office does not ask for money by phone for any reason, and gave the caller the FBI’s fraud number.

7:00 p.m.: A man in St. Maries gave a walk-in report that someone stole his wallet at the St. Maries Gun Range. He said he left the wallet on a gun bench while he went to check targets, and a woman stole it and drove away. The man followed her to a drive-through restaurant, and the woman had allowed him to search the vehicle. The wallet was not found, but later testimony from restaurant employees revealed that someone had thrown the wallet into the parking lot beforehand. The caller said the restaurant had video of the incident. An arrest was made.

Friday, July 19

1:48 p.m.: A Plummer man said he was walking his dog on a leash when another resident let his own dog off the leash, and that dog attacked his.

5:57 p.m.: A driver on State 5 said there was a taped-up cardboard delivery box on the side of the road near the cemetery. The caller did not wish to open it, but wanted it returned from where it came from. The driver later called back and said that they had opened the box and found it empty, and to disregard the previous call.

9:26 p.m.: A St. Maries caller advised a minor was sitting in the middle of Coeur d’Alene Avenue, and was severely intoxicated. The caller helped him to the sidewalk to recover, and the minor walked away.

Saturday, July 20

8:41 a.m.: A St. Maries woman said a neighbor’s vehicle had rolled down a hill and into her garage. She said there was significant damage to both the garage and her own car. A young boy was in the car at the time of the accident, but he was secured in a car seat and uninjured.

1:39 p.m.: A St. Maries resident said she got into an argument with an ex-boyfriend, who then threatened to drive to her residence and “destroy it all.”

10:23 p.m.: A deputy responded to reports of a fight at a campsite on the St. Joe River Road. A suspect was seen in a vehicle speeding through the campground, making threats and waving a gun. An arrest was made.

Sunday, July 21

6:34 a.m.: A St. Maries woman said a vehicle was stolen in the middle of the night. She said the vehicle was a courtesy car for the airport, but no planes had come in to land that night.

6:57 a.m.: A St. Maries man said his neighbor was being drunk and belligerent, bothering his wife and daughter and leaving unpleasant messages on his phone.
