Five Kootenai students will compete at the Idaho Regional Spelling Bee Saturday, March 19.

Two participants from Harrison Elementary will include Ivan Hugo, 4th Grade and Levi George, 5th Grade. From Kootenai Jr./Sr. High School, participants include Izzabella Davis, 6th Grade; Liam Gentry, 7th Grade; and Tuesday Glessner, 8th Grade.

A total of 46 students in grades four through eight will compete at the North Idaho College against their peers from area school districts. All contestants won district qualifiers at their respective grade levels.

The winner of the regional competition will travel to Washington, D.C. in May to represent northern Idaho in the Scripps National Spelling Bee. All expenses for the trip will be paid for the winner and a guardian, courtesy of the Coeur d’Alene Press.

Competition will begin March 16 at 9 a.m. at the NIC’s Edminster Student Union Building’s Lake Coeur d’Alene Room. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m.
