One local business is offering up home-style entrees and more.

Aunty’s Kitchen is a local eatery that is located inside the Suntan Salon. Owner Della Kennon and her son Nick Ohlson started the new business with hopes to offer something new and exciting to the community.

“I love to cook so that was a big thing,” Ms. Kennon said. “It seems like people are wanting something different.”

The restaurant came about just as Ms. Kennon and Mr. Ohlson were stuck with having to find a way to stay afloat at the start of the coronavirus pandemic. The idea was to utilize their idea for a restaurant to offer convenience to the community.

“COVID sent us in a new direction because the salon part had to be shut down for a few months,” Mr. Ohlson said.

The new restaurant offers a variety of meals that can be made to take home to bake or consume on the premises. While there is a large variety of house staple available, customers are also able to build their meals from a handful of different ingredients.

They also offer a large variety of different drinks from local brewed sodas to craft beer and wine.

“We do what we can to support local,” Ms. Kennon said.

Aunty’s Kitchen is open Monday through Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. For more information or to place an order for pickup call 208-582-1237.
