A federal judge in Washington sentenced a Coeur d’Alene Tribe member to prison Nov. 25 for assaulting a woman on the Colville Reservation. Roberto L. Doran, age 40, was sentenced to 3.5 years in prison after pleading guilty in August.

According to court records, Doran attacked his then-girlfriend on the reservation, causing serious bodily injury before she escaped and was helped by a neighbor. Doran has prior convictions for domestic violence.

The case was investigated by the local FBI office and the Tribal Law Enforcement Department of the Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation.
