Hannah Little and Amanda Reinhardt were appointed to the Kootenai school board Monday.

The two will fill vacancies created with the resignations of Rich Meyer and Jon Verkist. The men resigned in June after the board voted not to renew then-Superintendent Lynette Ferguson’s contract. Both Mr. Meyer and Mr. Verkist voted to renew her contract.

Ms. Little will represent Zone 5 and Ms. Reinhardt represents Zone 2. Both will have to run for election in November if they want to continue to serve.

Lori Dombrowski also applied to serve in Zone 5.

In other business the board hired Superintendent Dennis Kachelmaier through June, 2020. Mr. Kachelmaier was hired to replace Ms. Ferguson in July.

Mr. Kachelmaier has worked some 35 years as a teacher and administrator. His 25 years of administrative experience include the eight years he was principal at the St. Maries Middle School. He served most recently as superintendent and associate superintendent of the Nezperce School District.
