The Panhandle Health District announced last week that it will lift all public health advisories that have been issued in the five northern counties in 2021.

While there are still ongoing blooms in some of the lakes in the northern region, the recreation season has ended and the risk of human exposure has been reduced.

Previously the PHD and Idaho Department of Environmental Quality had identified a harmful algae bloom in both Cave Lake and Black Lake.

Information on harmful algae blooms in northern Idaho can be found online at https://www.deq.idaho.gov/water-quality/surface-water/cyanobacteria-harmful-algal-blooms/.
