Crews will be working throughout the city of St. Maries and the surrounding area through the end of August.

Avista is conducting pole inspections, replacements and reinforcements on approximately 250,000 wood poles in its system according to Communications Coordinator Kim Vollan.

Between three and five subcontractors are working in and around St. Maries to complete the work.

“They have been in the area since mid-July,” Ms. Vollan said. “They may have been more visible today, as they’ve moved toward the downtown area to complete work on infrastructure feeding the town.”

Temporary outages may be experienced during the work. Avista attempts to contact impacted customers before power and after conducting work that requires the power to be shut off.
