The Eagles Lodge plans to kick the Christmas season off with a raffle fundraiser for its basement remodel project.

The lodge plans to sell raffle tickets for a Christmas basket that is filled with treats, beverages and home decor. The basket is valued at $400 with tickets for the raffle costing $1 each for six tickets for $5.

The drawing for the basket will be December 18.

The basket fundraiser is another new project the Eagles Lodge has come up with to raise funds for its basement dining room remodel.

The basement dining hall and kitchen has been a staple area for community events like the upcoming Peppermint Street event during Christmas in St. Maries and more.

“This has been the center for a lot of events and it needs to be updated a bit,” Eagles Auxiliary member Helen Muffly said. “We are wanting to do new flooring, drywall and paint. Right now we have estimated it costing upwards of around $55,000.”

“It's for a good cause, this is an old building but it's a solid one,” Chris Hill added.

The lodge plans to have local contractors do the work on the basement when the fundraiser goal has been reached. Muffly said with more involvement at the lodge, she hopes to see work begin by next summer.

Muffly said the lodge has so far raised around $6,000 towards their goal and have also started a once-a-month soup and dessert event which also serves as a fundraiser for the remodel.

The event is held the second Saturday of each month.

“We are trying to establish a solid schedule of events,” Muffly said.

Those wanting to the support the Eagles Lodge by buying a raffle ticket for the Christmas basket can at the lodge, Main Street Bistro or Tabby Belle’s Boutique.
