St. Maries’ JV boys basketball team improved to 6-4 Jan. 11 with a 15-point win over Kellogg.
Justin Ledbetter led the Jacks with 10 points and nine rebounds as his team extended a two-point halftime lead to an eventual 55-40 victory.
“I was really satisfied with the way our play execution was,” Coach A.J. Becktel said. “We played a lot better in the second half, and did a good job of feeding our posts the ball.”
Tyler Renner added 10 points in the win, followed by Connor Wolfe with two assists and Trace Wicks with two assists and three steals.
The team dropped a road game at Bonners Ferry Jan. 9 despite 10 points and seven rebounds from Justin.
St. Maries played to a three-point deficit with one minute to play before the Badgers hit a three to put the game out of reach.
Trace added eight points and five steals, and Tyler scored a team-high 11 points in the effort.
The boys fell at Sandpoint Jan. 7 by a score of 31-38.
Tristun Hill led St. Maries in rebounding to go with his seven points. Connor added five points and two steals for the Lumberjacks.
The team travels to Grangeville Saturday. Tipoff is set for 1:30 p.m.
