St. Maries’ wrestling team snuck out of town Jan. 10 less than an hour before a big snow storm.

The Lumberjacks rolled back into town the evening of Jan. 11 eight medals richer.

Four of Coach Dennis Humphrey’s wrestlers went undefeated at the Maniac Invite in Orofino, and two more made finals appearances as the Lumberjacks came up one match win shy of a second place team finish.

“They all did good,” Coach Humphrey said. “Everyone wrestled hard, and we were real pleased with where we came out.”

Dylan Sotin (113) avenged an early-season loss to Clearwater Valley’s Anthony Fabbi to take first place with an 8-0 decision and end the day at 2-0.

Trysten Lockridge pinned four opponents on his way to a first-place finish, getting past Cedar Fisher of Clearwater Valley in the 152-pound final with a three-minute, 55-second pin.

Shaun Anderson (170) was the third Lumberjack to defeat a Clearwater Valley opponent in the finals as he pinned Ram Austin Corey in 5:18 to take first place.

Delbert Lambson (220) won his third gold of the season and second consecutive with his 3-0 record. Delbert won his final match 3-2 over Chase Burtenshaw of McCall-Donnelly.

Kobe Burris (120) and Sam Martin (138) each took second-place finishes with 2-1 marks.

Kyle Sibert (195) started his day with a loss to Joey Calene of Clarkston, and fought his way back to the third-place match, where he would pin Joey in four minutes and 52 seconds.

Landon Warren was the eighth Lumberjack to earn hardware at Orofino, taking fifth.

Upcoming: St. Maries will compete at the Northwest Christian Invite Saturday at Northwest Christian High School in Spokane. Wrestling begins at 9:30 a.m.
