While the COVID-19 pandemic may have put a stunt on Veteran’s Day activities this year for the American Legion Post 25, the group still plans to gather to show their support.

The Legion plans to meet at noon Wednesday, November 11 at the Veterans' Memorial at the cemetery, but this year’s celebration will be limited and smaller than usual.

Mr. Shubert said that the gathering will mainly be to have a Legion meeting. He said that the group has not been able to regularly meet since the start of the pandemic.

“We are going to have a regular meeting for our veterans outside at the Veteran’s Memorial,” Mr. Shubert said. “Because of COVID we have not been able to have indoor meetings.”

He said that he would like to keep the gathering small to ensure the safety of the community. No matter, the Legion still plans to celebrate the community’s veterans in some way.

Mr. Shubert also reported that the annual Veteran’s Day dinner that was scheduled for Sunday, November 15, has been canceled due to the event usually being popular and also being indoors.

“We want everyone to be safe,” Mr. Shubert said. “With the escalation of the virus right now in our community we thought it would be best to cancel this year.”
