Robert Richard Kingsley, age 89, was born July 29, 1931 to Richard O. Kingsley and Beatrice (Johnson) Kingsley.
Robert (Bob) Kingsley grew up in St. Maries where he resided his entire life until moving to Coeur d’Alene in 2017. He resided in a nursing home until he passed away, June 29, 2021.
Bob served in the United States Army for three years, 1951-1954.
In 1952 Bob married Doris May Schwend and had two children: Linda Sue Kingsley (Lario) and David Michael Kingsley. Doris passed away from Polio in 1956, leaving Bob to care for a 2-year-old and a 10-month-old.
Bob worked as a sawmill supervisor at the Potlatch Corp. for many years.
Bob remarried in 1959, to Betty Guenther. Betty had a daughter, Wendy Thosteson (Wilks-Bond), and together Bob and Betty had a son, Richard (Dick) Kingsley in 1960. Bob and Betty raised their children on the Kingsley cattle ranch on St. Maries River Road where he resided until he moved to Coeur d’Alene.
Betty passed away in 1987 from complications of rheumatoid arthritis.
In 1989, Bob married Janice Michaels-Farrell and they resided at the Kingsley ranch until her death in September of 2015. Jan had three grown children when they got married: Stacey Jensen, Joe Farrell, and Rick Farrell.
Bob was a member of the Elks and a member of the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church for many years. Bob loved to fish, camp, play horse shoes, and play cards. His favorite card game was pinochle and would play anytime he could get a game going. He also loved visiting, bantering, and playing cards with his friends at Joe’s Bar.
Bob is survived by his children: Wendy (Bill) Bond of Davenport, Wash., Linda (Bob) Lario of Hotchkiss, Colo., Dave (Shawn) Kingsley of Coeur d’Alene and their two girls, Alexis (Garrett) Johnson of Boise, Idaho and Gracie (James) McCurdy of Johnson City, Tenn., Dick (Leslie) Kingsley of Coeur d’Alene, Paul and Stacey Jensen of St. Johns, Ariz., Joe (Julia) Farrell of Spokane, Wash., and Rick Farrell of Spokane, He is also survived by his brother, Don (Joann) Kingsley of Lewiston, Idaho; sisters: Betty (Wray) Rollis of Coeur d’Alene, Cathy (Paul) Goldberg of Corvallis, Ore., and Sharon (Leon) Armstrong of St. Maries. Bob’s sister, Dorie Reaves, passed away in 2020. She and her husband, Ed, (passed away in 2019) lived in Rathdrum, Idaho.
Bob was well known and loved by many in the community and helped whoever needed it. He was extremely hard working and especially enjoyed his grandchildren.
A service will be held July 29, 2021 at 11:00 AM at the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in St. Maries.
