John C. Kraack, 88, died of heart failure at Kootenai Health Tuesday, January 7, 2020. He was surrounded by his loving family. John was born January 29, 1931, in Columbia Falls, Mont., to John A. and Alberta Kraack. He married June Farrington on July 1, 1949, in a barbershop in Superior, Mont. They were married for 61 years before June’s death October 21, 2010.
John attended grade school in Clagstone, Idaho. At recess, he would take off to go fishing in a nearby creek. The remainder of his schooling was in Rose Lake where he graduated high school in 1948.
His working years included logging and mining in the Silver Valley. Favorite activities included hunting, fishing, the casino, watching sports on TV and his family. There was a twinkle in his eye when he could tell a good story, tease, or when any of his grandchildren walked in the door. All that knew him enjoyed his great sense of humor and ability to jokingly give someone a bad time.
John was preceded in death by his wife, his brother, Alvin, and sister Gerry Howe. He is survived by his daughter, Cheryl (Rich) Richardson, Medimont; son, Steve (Sue) Kraack, Coeur d Alene; daughter, Debbie Kraack, Harrison Flats; son, Rick (Tami) Kraack, Medimont; and son, John (Marla) Kraack, Conkling Park. Also surviving him are 10 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild, due in April. Also surviving are brothers Dean, Rich, Pete and Mike Kraack; sisters Frances Plemmons, Dianne Halverson and Beverly Kamstra, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorial donations can be made to the Rose Lake Historical Society, S. 14917 Queen Ave, Cataldo, Idaho.
