Nathan Bornitz passed away at his home in Colorado Springs, Colo. in late July.
Nate was born August 23, 1978 in Coeur d’Alene to Dick and Linda Bornitz. He attended grade school through junior high in Harrison and graduated from St. Maries High School in 1996. Nate joined the Marine Corps. in 1998, serving for six years. He was deployed to Kuwait and Iraq during the First Desert Storm conflict. Nate was honorably discharged in 2004 with the rank of Sergeant. Nate was very proud to have served as a Marine.
After the military he attended the University of North Carolina where he earned his degree in mechanical engineering. He and his family moved to Colorado Springs where he started a career with Colorado Springs Utilities. During his time there Nate received several awards of achievement and recognition and was promoted to project manager for the city.
Nate had two children, Brooke (15) and Hayden (11) whom he loved very much and always encouraged them to experience new things. A lover of motor sports and outdoor activities, he passed on his enthusiasm for the outdoors to his children, engaging in dirt biking, off roading, camping, fishing, snow skiing and the shooting range. He and the children vacationed throughout the western US, often returning to Idaho for visits with friends and family.
Nate is survived by his children, both of Colorado Springs; his parents, St. Maries; sister Jamie Tesky, Coeur d’Alene; and numerous family members.
Nate will be missed by those who loved him, including family, many friends and co-workers.
There will be a celebration of life memorial for Nate at 11:00 a.m. Sept. 18, 2021 at the Medimont Grange (next to the Valley Mart), N. Hwy 3, mile marker 104.
Refreshments will be provided.
