James (Jim) Kelly died June 10, 2019 at Ivy Court in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, after battling various medical issues.
Jim was born April 17, 1943 in Tekoa, Wash. to Thomas and Olive Kelly of Tensed, Idaho. Jim graduated from Plummer High School. After graduation, he married his high school sweetheart Carol A. Leuty (Kelly) on February 7, 1963. They remained married for 55 years, until Carol’s death November 1, 2018.
Jim enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served his enlistment in England and North Africa. After his service he opened Jim’s Chevron in Tekoa for a shrot time before going to work for American Tobacco products that took the family to Yakima, Wash. He then went to work logging for Pacific Crown Timber Products of Plummer and later drove truck for Rayonier.
Jim liked to hunt and fish as well as camp but mostly just liked to converse with anyone who would listen.
He was preceded in death by his maternal parents, Thomas and Olive Kelly; step-father, Helmer Schartner; brother, Jack T. Kelly; daughter, Lori Lee Kelly; and wife of 55 years, Carol A. Kelly.
Jim is survived by two sons and their spouses, Ron and Jolene Kelly of Spokane, Wash.; and Dan and Teri Kelly of Sachse, Texas; and two grandchildren who made him smile from ear to ear, Taylor and Dylan Kelly, also of Sachse, Texas.
There will be a graveside memorial Wednesday, July 3 at 11 a.m. at Mountain View Cemetery in Farmington, Wash.
