With three victories last week, the Lakeside girls basketball team had won nine of their last 10 going into a Jan. 28 matchup with Wallace.

The league-leading Knights snapped a seven-game losing streak to Genesis Prep that spanned two seasons Jan. 21.

The two teams meet again Friday in Post Falls, which will serve as Lakeside’s second-to-last game before the district tournament.

Ashlee Holt scored a game-high 18 points in Lakeside’s 77-27 win over the Jaguars last week.

“We played really well as a team and had four players in double figures, and two other players really close,” Coach Chris Dohrman said.

The girls turned around for a game at Clark Fork the next day, and overcame an eight-point halftime deficit for a 46-40 NSL win.

“We did enough to get a win,” Coach Dohrman said. “It’s always hard to travel and play at Clark Fork, and to do it on the second night of a back-to-back makes it even harder. Clark Fork always plays better at their place, and they definitely gave us a good game.”

Smantha Adrian and Arianna Gorr scored 13 points each as the Knights used a 13-2 run in the fourth quarter to steal the win.

The week ended with a home game against 3A Priest River. The Knights earned their second victory over the Spartans this season, overcoming another halftime deficit for a 43-37 win.

The result was significant for Coach Dohrman’s team, which to that point had gone 0-2 in games decided by five points or less.

“We did a good job defensively in the second half as a team,” Coach Dohrman said. “We were able to close out a tight game, which should help us down the line.”
