St. Maries’ JV girls basketball team dropped a pair of matchups last week.

The girls fell to Bonners Ferry 21-29 Nov. 19 despite six points apiece from Mia Asbury and Danika Sloper, who led the team in scoring.

St. Maries outscored its opponent 6-2 in the final quarter, but could not overcome its 12-point deficit at the end of the third frame.

The team was forced to rally in its first game of the week, going down 3-16 in the first quarter against Kendrick Nov. 16. St. Maries put up eight points in the third frame and held the Tigers to two, but fell 28-34.

Brenna Elliott hit three shots in the third quarter and one from behind the arc in the fourth to lead St. Maries in scoring with 11 points. Danika scored six points and Stormi Lockridge added four in the effort.

Up Next: St. Maries JV (1-2) returns to action from Thanksgiving Break Nov. 30 at Sandpoint. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m. at Sandpoint High School. The girls host Wallace Dec. 2 at 5:30, and play at Troy Dec. 4 at 1 p.m.
