The Lakeside volleyball team is gearing up for a chance at a league title.

A win at Wallace this week would put the Knights in a tie with the Miners for first place in SIC standings, while a loss would add a home match to their schedule, being the two-seed and facing Genesis Prep in a loser-out round.

The girls head into Thursday’s match having been swept by Wallace Oct. 8.

The Knights fell at home 20-25, 15-25, 12-25 in their SIC opener with the Miners.

Tyshea Twoteeth led the team in digs with six and Arianna Havier-Gorr had a team-high three kills.

“Wallace is a solid team and played that way,” Coach Brad Veile said. “They were able to keep us off balance and take away our offense. We were on our heels most of the match.”

The girls evened their league record to keep their hopes of a one seed alive last week with a 25-16, 25-17, 25-20 win over Genesis Prep.

“We played good enough to win,” Coach Veile said.

Kria Peters had five kills and three digs and Arianna recorded four kills and six digs in the effort.

Upcoming: Lakeside (2-5, 1-1 SIC before an Oct. 13 match @ Kootenai) travels to Wallace Thursday.
