St. Maries’ JV football team dropped a contest to Bonners Ferry Oct. 4 by a score of 12-40.

The Lumberjacks lost Shaun Hunter to a knee injury, and struggled to find offensive momentum the rest of the way.

“The kids played hard, but my playbook went out the window when Shaun hurt his knee and I was down to only one running back,” Coach T.J. Hammond said.

Brayden Johnston, a recent addition, filled in for Shaun following his injury.

Coach Hammond credited Ethan Kolar and Dillon Holder for their efforts running the ball in the second half.

The Lumberjacks host Grangeville Friday. Kickoff is slated for 4 p.m. at St. Maries High School.
