St. Maries’ JV boys basketball team grabbed two wins in its first action back from the holiday break.

The Lumberjacks defeated Bonners Ferry 41-29 Jan. 8 behind 12 points and nine rebounds from Wyatt Holmes, and 10 points from Dillon Holder, who also led the team in steals and assists.

St. Maries defeated Genesis Prep 48-23 Jan. 5. After leading 18-15 at halftime, Coach A.J. Becktel’s team held the Jaguars to eight points in the second half.

“We played really good defense,” Coach Becktel said. “For whatever reason we’ve just really had a tough time shooting the ball. We’re getting looks, it’s just one of those things you hope works itself out at some point.”

Dillon scored a team-high 14 points, Seth Swallows added nine, Remy Ballew seven and J.J. High six for St. Maries JV (4-2).

Up Next: St. Maries JV boys basketball team plays at Lakeland Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. and travels to Grangeville Saturday for a 1:30 p.m. tipoff.
