Their playoff hopes riding on one game, the Lakeside football team came up big at Clark Fork Oct. 30.
After going into the halftime break down 22-24, the Knights rattled off 20 points in the second half and earned a spot in this week’s tiebreaker with Mullan/St. Regis.
Lakeside outscored its opponent 20-12 in the second half en route to a 44-34 victory.
“It’s always tough to go up to Clark Fork and play,” Coach Chris Dohrman said. “It was a good team win to force a tiebreaker with Mullan.”
Vincent Howard, Sonny Reuben and J.J. Hall each scored touchdowns in the win that put the Knights at 6-1, 3-1 NSL and tied them for first in North Star standings. Vincent finished with 124 yards rushing for two touchdowns in the win.
Lakeside met Mullan/St. Regis Nov. 5 at Kootenai High, where each team was given two possessions from the 20-yard line to determine which would earn a spot in the 1AD2 state quarterfinals.
The winner will host Kendrick (8-1, 3-0 WPL) late this week.
