Warriors hit the road

Kiera Bohannon handles a Mullan serve during the first set of the Warriors' home match with the Tigers Sept. 10.

More than ten years have passed since Lakeside and Kootenai played a non-league volleyball match against one another.

Thursday, both clubs will look for their first win in Plummer as the Knights, part of the newly-formed 1AD1 Scenic Idaho League, host the Warriors in what will be Lakeside’s return from its two-week hiatus following a positive coronavirus test.

Kootenai recently opened its season, falling in three sets to Mullan Sept. 10 by scores of 9-25, 14-25, 11-25.

Abby Tiller led the Warriors with five assists, two blocks and two kills as her team made a push midway through the second set of the losing effort.

“I was so proud of their performance,” First-year coach Danyell Barden said. “I am pleased with the hard work these girls have put in.”

First-year player, junior Mahalia Loucks recorded two kills for Kootenai, and freshman Keira Bohannon added two digs and an assist.

Upcoming: Kootenai (0-1, 0-1 NSL) travels to Lakeside Thursday. The varsity-only evening is slated for a 5:30 p.m. start at Ron Miller Court in Plummer.
