St. Maries’ JV volleyball team closed its season with a win Oct. 19.

Lily Daniel dished out 14 assists and Kassidi Scott added nine digs in the 25-12, 25-18, 3-15 win.

“It was a good win to finish our season,” Coach Aubree Gibson said. “I could really see the girls coming together and their improvements throughout the season. I’m excited to see where the next year holds for us.”

The win came on St. Maries’ fourth match in seven days, the third coming Oct. 17 against Grangeville when the girls fell 18-25, 25-19, 9-15.

The Lumberjacks’ first match with Orofino was Oct. 15, St. Maries losing narrowly 25-16, 22-25, 16-18.

“The girls fought hard, but we just weren’t able to finish, unfortunately,” Coach Gibson said.

Lexi Fuller and Tayla Janssen recorded four kills apiece Oct. 13 in a win over Timberlake.

Kassidi added 11 digs as the girls rallied from a first-set loss to take a 18-25, 25-17, 15-8 victory.

“We struggled to get momentum the first set, but were able to find it almost mid-set in the second and then continued in the third,” Coach Gibson said. “Our communication improved and we had a big serving stretch in the second, and the girls were able to dig deep and come out with a good team win.”

St. Maries closes its season with a 6-5 record.
