St. Maries’ boys soccer team improved to 2-2 in IML play Sept. 3 with a 4-1 win over Orofino.

With the victory the Lumberjacks are now 2-0 against 2A schools with a second game against Grangeville scheduled for Saturday.

“It went well,” Coach Chris Renaldo said. “It was nice to get a home game in. We tried some new things and the boys adapted really well.”

Connor Wolfe scored a goal in the 17th minute and recorded an assist as his team scored three unanswered goals in the second half to improve to 3-2 going into a game at Timberlake Sept. 7.

Keeper Greyson Sands made five saves in the victory.

The team opened its week at Immaculate Conception, falling 1-7 to the Post Falls private school.

Up Next: St. Maries (3-2, 2-2 IML before Sept. 7 @ Timberlake) travels to Grangeville Saturday. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. at Grangeville High.
