St. Maries’ JV girls basketball team rallied from 11 points down to earn a win in their season opener with Troy Nov. 13.

Down 6-17 through one quarter, the Lumberjacks outscored the Trojans 15-1 in the second frame of an abbreviated, two-quarter contest.

Averie Baird scored a team-high 10 points in the 21-18 win, followed by Mia Asbury with four and Kylie Boutillier with three.

“It was good to get that first win under our belt,” Coach Dakota Wickard said. “The girls played hard.”

St. Maries’ JV girls (1-0 before Nov. 16 game at Kendrick) host Bonners Ferry Friday, tipping off at 5 p.m. at St. Maries High School.
