St. Maries’ youth wrestling spring season got underway Jan. 19 at the Oregon Classic.

Emmitt Rivadeneira and Kelby Harvey both finished on the podium for St. Maries.

Emmitt was 3-1 for a third place finish, and Kelby went 3-2 for fifth place.

Jerrett Brebner and Riley McKerlie both split matches, each going 2-2. Sam Jones and Easton McKerlie were both 1-2. Kody Tefft and Zach David each were 0-2 on the day.

Kelby, Aiden Yearout and Sam were each undefeated Jan. 26 at Deer Park.

Kelby and Aiden both went 5-0 for first place marks, and Sam was 4-0 for first.

Zach was one of three Lumberjack wrestlers to finish in second place, as he went 4-1. Gradyn Harvey and Kody Tefft each came in second with records of 3-2 and 3-1, respectively.

Rylen Harvey was also 3-2 as he took home third.

Landon Tweedy won two matches against three losses for fourth place, Jerrett finished 1-4 for fifth and Michael Stewart went 0-5 for sixth.

Kelby and Riley traveled to Pocatello last week to compete in the folkstyle Idaho State Tournament, where each earned a podium finish.

Kelby came in fourth place with a 2-2 record, as he won his first match with a first-period pin, and the second by a 9-0 decision.

Riley finished fifth behind a 3-2 record. He won a 5-1 decision in the first round, pinned his second opponent in the first period and earned fifth on a 6-4 decision.
