Facing the team that handed them their only loss of season one month ago, the Lakeside football team came out with a vengeance Oct. 2 at Mullan.

J.J. Hall rumbled for a 21-yard touchdown in the third quarter to give the Knights a six-point lead over the Tigers after a back and forth first half.

J.J.’s trip to the end zone was the second consecutive for Lakeside, which was countered by three unanswered Mullan touchdowns that put the game out of reach.

Lakeside was stopped on three of its four trips to the red zone in the fourth quarter, fumbling on the goal line and recording an interception on two of those stops.

The Knights’ 34-50 loss showed a marked improvement from their 34-point defeat suffered against the Tigers in late August.

“I was really happy with the improvement, effort and energy we gave last Friday,” Coach Chris Dohrman said. “It was a really good game, Mullan just made a few more plays than we did.”

The Knights are off this week, and return to action next Friday, Oct. 16 at the Kibbie Dome in Moscow where they will face Lapwai (1-2).

The meeting will be the first football game between the two schools since 2013, when the Wildcats took a 48-6 win in Plummer.

Lapwai has dropped two of three to start the season, losing to Clearwater Valley (6-24) and Kamiah (22-26) after routing Troy 50-6 in week one.

Upcoming: Lakeside (3-2, 1-0 SIC) is idle this week, and kicks off next Friday, Oct. 16 against Lapwai at 7 p.m. in Moscow’s Kibbie Dome.
