Conceding three first-quarter touchdowns proved too much, too early for St. Maries’ football team in a home opener Sept. 25.

After falling behind 0-6 early following a Tristan Nelson touchdown, the Tigers rattled off 21 consecutive points to take a lead they would not give up, handing St. Maries a 22-33 loss.

Quinten Ramsey-Buress put the Jacks back within one score early in the second half, returning the third quarter’s opening kickoff 80 yards to the end zone.

Down 14-33 in the fourth quarter, Eli Gibson tossed his second touchdown of the night to cap scoring for his team at 22.

The Lumberjacks host Bonners Ferry (2-2, 2-0 IML) Friday for their second of three home games this season.

The Badgers are coming off league wins over Kellogg (14-13) and Priest River (45-0).
