Jim Spooner, a 1996 St. Maries High School graduate, was hired last week as Washington State University, where he will serve as the head football athletic trainer.

Spooner has held the same position with two college football teams, first at Boise State, where he was assistant athletic trainer before being named the head trainer in 2013.

Before that Spooner worked at New Mexico State University. He has also worked as athletic trainer for the Alaska Aces of the ECHL AA Hockey League and with the San Jose Saber Cats of the Arena Football League.

Mr. Spooner made the move to Pullman with wife Christina and their two children, Cace and Harley.
