The St. Maries JV volleyball team fell at Bonners Ferry in three sets Oct. 10.
Lily Daniel led the Jacks in their 19-25, 17-25, 8-15 defeat.
“We had to switch up our lineup a little bit, which caused some communication issues,” Coach Aubree Gibson said. “We’re going to take it and learn from it.”
Kassidi Scott had a team-high four digs and Lexi Fuller added three kills.
The girls played at Post Falls Oct. 6 in a tri-match with the host Trojans and Moscow.
The team dropped its first match to Post Falls 15-25, 9-25, 6-15.
Kara Sexton recorded five digs, Lily had three assists, Mackenzie Nelson served one ace and Lexi Brebner tallied two kills to go with one block.
St. Maries’ second match, against Moscow, ended in a 16-25, 11-25, 9-15 defeat.
Lily dished out four assists, Kassidi had three digs, Lexi Fuller three kills and Lexi Brebner one block in the effort.
“It was good for the girls to see a higher level of play,” Coach Gibson said. “We struggled with our communication and powered through adversity, but ultimately it wasn’t our ideal set of matches.”
The Lumberjacks (4-3 before Oct. 13 match vs. Timberlake) travel to Orofino Thursday for a 5 p.m. start. and host Grangeville Saturday, beginning at noon.
