St. Maries’ softball team grabbed a pair of wins in its final weekend of play before spring break.

The Jacks traveled to Kamiah for a league doubleheader with the Kubs, and won the pair of games by a combined total of 52-6.

Taci Watkins fanned 15 batters in a five-inning first game, won by St. Maries 19-1.

Shelby Martin, Berkli McGreal, Daniella Dockery, Sami Badgett and Stacie Mitchell recorded two RBIs apiece in the victory.

“We had all our girls get some field time, so that was nice,” Coach Bitterman said. “It was a beautiful day to play a couple games.”

Gracie Barden pitched four of five innings in the second game, striking out three batters in a 33-5 win.

Kirsten Miller went 3-4 with eight RBIs as her team plated 16 runs in the fifth inning and doubled its lead.

The team hosted Timberlake March 23 and hung with the Tigers for six innings behind Taci’s pitching, but fell 1-12 after the Tigers posted a nine-run seventh inning.

Taci struck out 13 batters and threw 160 pitches in the effort.

“We are still having some base running blunders that we need to eliminate from our game if we plan on making a splash in the postseason,” Coach Bitterman said.

Next up: St. Maries is idle through spring break, and returns to action April 8 at Timberlake.
