With his four-minute, 32-second pin at the state wrestling championships last weekend, Kootenai’s Justin Bussdieker became the first Warrior since 2011 to earn points at a state wrestling competition.

Justin went 1-2 at the 2A championships, falling in the first round to eventual third-place medalist Connor Parkinson of Ririe.

The first consolation round saw Justin to his pin, coming in the third period over Raft River’s Isaac Powers.

“He came back with an escape, takedown and then a pin,” Coach Jerry Brown said. “He was very excited, as well he should be. Our first state points since 2011.”

Justin’s final match was a loss to Jared Rindlisbaker of North Gem, a three-minute, 19-second pin.
