A year after claiming a fifth place medal as a freshman for St. Maries’ wrestling team, Dylan Sotin again made his mark at the 2A state championships.
Dylan went 3-1, finishing second in the 98-pound bracket Feb. 23 for his second medal in as many state trips.
Dylan pinned his first two opponents in 58 and 54 seconds, respectively, before winning a 12-4 decision over Connor Parkinson of Ririe to advance to the finals.
In his final match, Dylan was pinned in three minutes and one second.
In addition to Dylan, two Lumberjacks made it to day two, including Shaun Anderson (160) and Hayden Villa (138)
Shaun opened his tournament with a 3-9 loss. He went on to win his next two matches by scores of 8-3 and 10-0 before falling 2-14 in the third consolation round.
Hayden pinned his first opponent in three minutes and 29 seconds before falling 0-2 in the quarterfinals. He won his consolation match 13-2 before falling in a final match by a score of 6-8.
Six Lumberjacks went 1-2, including Gage Norton (152), Steven Toland (195), Kyle Sibert (195), Delbert Lambson (220), Myles Hanson (113) and Kobe Burris (113).
Sam Martin (132) and Trysten Lockridge (152) both went two-and-out.
