A 12-2 run to start the first quarter set St. Maries’ JV boys basketball up for a big win Jan. 25.
The Lumberjacks, who have now won three of their last four, got nine points from Colby Renner and shot just under 50 percent as a team in a 51-21 win over Orofino.
“I was really proud of the way they played,” Coach A.J. Becktel said. “We had talked about getting the ball under the basket, and I think each of those first 12 points we scored were in the paint. It was nice to see the kids listen to the game plan we had, and then turn around and execute it.”
Tristun Hill added eight points and four rebounds, Jared Badgett put up eight points and pocketed three steals and Trace Wicks dished out three assists as St. Maries improved to 8-5.
The Lumberjacks host Timberlake Thursday at 5:30 p.m., and tip off against Grangeville Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at St. Maries High School.
