The Kootenai girls basketball team will finish the remainder of its season with league games.

The Warriors open their stretch of three consecutive NSL games Thursday at Mullan.

The girls are coming off a pair of close losses, first to Mullan Jan. 21.

“We played well,” Coach Doug Napierala said of the 25-34 loss. “It was a competitive game throughout. Mullan had an 11-point lead at the half and we were able to narrow the margin to three at one point.”

Jacey Grange scored a season-high 13 points in the effort and pulled down six rebounds.

The girls fell in another tight contest Jan. 23 at St. Maries JV. After falling behind 16 at the half, the Warriors battled back and outscored the Lumberjacks 17-13 in the second half of a 26-38 loss.

“In the second half we were able to get things going offensively, and our defense was also improved,” Coach Napierala said.

The week ended for Kootenai with a Jan. 24 game at Wallace, where the girls fell 11-58.

Abby Tiller scored a team-high six points in the effort.
