St. Maries’ JV girls basketball team was within one point of Lapwai at halftime Jan. 5.

The Lumberjacks got a team-high 13 points from Sami Sindt as they fell behind in the second half and lost the game 36-43.

Tayla Janssen put up seven points in the effort and McKayla Spray added four. Jacklin Linnemeyer and Kara Sexton scored three point apiece, and Kammi Rimel, Kassidi Scott and Lexi Chappell added two each.

Upcoming: St. Maries JV (2-6) hosts Grangeville Saturday. Tipoff is set for noon.
