Former St. Maries residents Ed and Leota Ward celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a three-week trip visiting family in Virginia and with friends near the their home in Florida.
Leota Lee Stancil Ward and Edward Ward were graduated from St. Maries High School in 1964 and were married May 8, 1965 in Moscow while attending the university.
After graduation from the University of Idaho, Mr. Ward was commissioned in the Army and completed a 30-year military career, retiring with rank of Colonel.
They served in several locations during their careers. They travelled throughout Europe, and spent more than eight years in the Middle East. Mr. Ward also spent six years in oil, gas and defense industries in the US and the Middle East.
Mrs. Ward spent 35 years as budget and management analyst providing support and assistance to US soldiers. She attained Level III status in the Army Acquisition Corps and retired inw2010.
The couple’s family includes their daughters Lisa Saturno of Dayton, Ohio; Teresa Burger of Manassas, Va. and Trisha Solomon of Haymarket, Va.; and nine grandchildren.
