The Idaho Transportation Department seeks applicants for its workforce development program.
The ITD is in search of the next group of constructions operators to take part in a month-long training in Lewiston in spring 2023.
Some of the skills taught during the course are heavy equipment operation, cement masonry, carpentry, truck driving skills and mechanics.
According to a press release form the ITD, out of the 105 class graduates in the past few years, 80 percent of those have gone on to find highway construction careers within 45 days of completion. For Idaho, the average starting wage in the construction industry is typically $40,000 a year according to the ITD.
The class is open to anyone over the age of 18 in the state of Idaho. The ITD is accepting 20 students for the spring program.
Applicants must have a valid drivers license and able to pass a drug test. The ITD will offer housing assistance to those coming from out of the region for the training.
The training is slated to take place from April 17 to May 19.
