This St. Patrick’s Day will be full of fun and games at the Elks Lodge.
Organizers will return with another year of activities geared towards the community’s youth during a holiday that is traditionally geared towards adults.
Lodge Manager Stacey Bayless said the creation of the event was to offer more family-friendly options for children and parents in the community.
“We have always done a fall carnival but we also decided we wanted to do something for St. Patrick’s Day for kids to do while the adults have their fun,” Bayless said. “It’s a great way to have something to do on a Friday night too.”
The spring carnival has been an ongoing event for the Lodge for the last five years now and usually is the first of many spring-themed events at the Lodge.
Bayless said the event is popular as well with an average of 60 children visiting the carnival through the evening.
The event is geared towards children ages one through those who are in fifth grade.
There will be an assortment of 25 cent games for children to play as well including a fish pond, cake walk, hoop shoot, golf, face painting burgers, hot dogs and more. The lodge also plans to bring back the cabbage roll game as well.
As spring hits, the Lodge looks forward to many of its other upcoming events including Brunch with the Bunny, the annual Easter Egg Hunt and the fishing derby which will be closer to June.
“With this community there isn’t a whole lot for the kids to do after school,” Bayless said. “We do our part to keep the kids entertained and going in a good direction.”
The Elks Youth Carnival will be from 4:30 to 6 p.m., Friday, March 17 at the lodge.
