SM Veterans Dinner
PotlatchDeltic donated $700 to American Legion, and employees of the St. Maries Complex pitched in another $614 for the local veterans group. The employees raised the money by selling T-shirts honoring veterans. Jim Shubert accepted the donation from plant manager, Steve Henson and Jenny Abell, Kara Abell, Cindy Greene, Terri LaRue and Amanda Horton.Â

Operation Christmas Child
More than 40 people, including Tyvan Royal, helped pack shoebox gifts for Operation Christmas Child at the St. Maries Assembly of God Sunday. The boxes will be shipped to a processing center and eventually be hand-delivered to children in more than 100 different countries.

Massive fern continues to flourish
Beulah Johnston stands next to a 75-year -old fern that has been in her family since 1944. Ms. Johnston has been caring for the fern for almost two decades since her mother and father passed away. She said to this day the original root her and her mother brought home is still in tact.

Randy Mueller Honored at HOF Banquet
These St. Maries players were named to the all-league team in 1978 and include (row 1) Randy Mueller and Skip Peterson, (row 2) coach Jim Wilund, Mike Ozark, Jeff Martin and Mitch Lawrence.
Mr. Mueller will be honored at the Lumberjack Booster Club hall of Fame Banquet Friday, Nov. 15.Â

Kootenai Veterans Day Assembly

Elk's Turkey Bingo
Carol Sexton (left) and Mary Skinner (right) hold bingo cards and a whole chicken. Those who attend the Elks Lodge Turkey Bingo Nov. 16 will have a chance to win a whole turkey or chicken. Proceeds from the event go toward the Elks annual Christmas Baskets.Â

BBQ for children to meet heroes
St. Maries Spectrum Supporters will host a BBQ where local children will have the opportunity to meet local heroes, including (from left) Benewah County Sheriff's Deputy Anthony Peterson; local EMT Kristin Compton; Alex Beauchman, Bubba Pugh, Cory Flesher, Eric Vore and Cole Schiermeister of the Idaho Department of Lands; Lt. JamShack Donates
JamShack hosted a dance Saturday, Nov. 9 at the Eagles Lodge with part of the proceeds going to the Community Action Center (CAC) in St. Maries. The band said the event was a success, as they had 106 in attendance. Instead of only donating 10 percent of the door price to the CAC, the band decided to donate 25 percent instead. It raised more than $450 on top of the food pictured for the CAC.
