Fly In Breakfast
One of the highlights of the Fly-in and Pancake Breakfast July 20 was the wide selection of contemporary and vintage planes on display for the public. Here, onlookers inspect a rare Grumman Goose flying boat, restored by Addison Pemberton of Spokane.

Harrison city audit past due
Harrison residents expressed concern that the city audit is past due. According to City Treasurer Kara Henderson (not pictured) the delay is the result of staff changes at city hall. Ms. Henderson took over the job of treasurer in April. Ms. Henderson said the city expects independent auditors to complete their work by the end of August.

Harrison RV Park
The Harrison RV park has faced multiple setbacks, including design flaws that have limited the size of vehicles able to maneuver in the park. City council members declined or did not respond to requests for comment regarding the status of renovations or if the project is over budget. Despite ongoing problems the park has remained busy on weekends since opening June 24, according to camp host Sam Hawley (not pictured).

Library Family Fun Day
Friends of the St. Maries Public Library Laura Allen, Marianne Bailey, Mayor Tom Carver, St. Maries Librarian Pinky Humphrey, Bayleigh Humphrey, Nisha Banjao and Meijah Yearout pose in front of an aircraft staged at the St. Maries Airport during the Fly-in Breakfast. The St. Maries Library will host a Family Fun Day, July 29, at the airport. Mayor Carver and other local pilots will show off their planes during the event.

TOPS officers 2019
Harrison TOPS Chapter #338 installed new officers July 18. The new officers are Valerie Harris, treasurer; Jean Dohrman, secretary; Elaine Desautel, co-leader; Gwen Wadley, leader; Eileen Duhamel, weight recorder; Karen Sharron, assistant weight coordinator.

Trap Neuter Release Clinic
Peggy Imbrie, director of the Trap Neuter and Release program, poses with photos of the 987 felines the clinic has sterilized in an effort to reduce the feral cat population in Benewah County. A clinic, July 24, will put them over the 1,000 mark. Ms. Imbrie is challenging the community to raise $1,000 for a match grant that would provide $2,000 to fund the program if the goal is met.

Wounded Warriors hosted on the Joe
Retired Navy and Army veteran Cliff Taylor Jr. and Whitepine Outfitters guide Kyle Lerch row through the Big Eddy at the end of a day of fishing the St. Joe River. The Wounded Warrior Project in conjunction with multiple local businesses, organizations and individual volunteers sponsored a 3-day, 2-night fly fishing trip for more than 20 veterans.

More than 20 veterans from throughout the northwest attended a Wounded Warrior Project fly-fishing trip on the St. Joe River July 16-18. Volunteers from the St. Maries Elks Lodge, American Legion Post 25 and Kiwanis Club along with area residents, sporting good stores and outfitters helped put on the event.

Gary Hill (left), Danny Reed and Dan Wilkins members of St. Maries American Legion Post 25 helped cook meals for a Wounded Warrior Project fly-fishing trip July 16-18. Food was provided by the St. Maries Elks Lodge. The Kiwanis Club provided equipment. More than 40 veterans and volunteers combined attended the camp out on the St. Joe River.

St. Maries resident Nick Coleman (front) seen here with three of his four children, Audrey Wilkinson, Lilly Coleman and Zayne Coleman, provides free rides on his evenings off from the mill for those in need of a sober driver in an effort to make the streets safer. UpRiver celebrates
Residents of Benewah County are invited to two days of fun and festivities at Fernwood Days July 26-27. Organizers (from left) Kelli Beauchman, Matt Wagner, Denise Hall, Debby Powell, Rose Lochridge, Alisa Wagner and Christine Ashmead have brought together a wide variety of attractions for attendees to enjoy, including games, raffles, vendors, food, live music and a parade down the city's main street.
