Two big innings, one in either game, left the St. Maries baseball team without a win in last weekend’s doubleheader with Bonners Ferry.
The Badgers plated six runs in the fourth inning of the first game and six in the seventh inning of the second game to hand the Lumberjacks two losses, 1-11 and 2-14.
St. Maries managed seven hits in the first game, but left five runners stranded. Brock Anderson was 3-3, and the four other Lumberjacks to record hits were Trace Wicks, Riley Abell, Milo Marsh and Julien Ceja-Grimaldo.
Trace handled pitching duties for four innings, striking out three batters.
The Lumberjacks had three hits in the second game, two belonging to Dillon Holder. Milo had the team’s third hit as it fell 2-14. Wyatt Holmes and Brock recorded four strikeouts apiece on the mound.
St. Maries played at Freeman April 13, and after going ahead 1-0 in the top of the first inning gave up three runs in the first and third innings of a 1-7 loss.
The Lumberjacks left 13 runners on base and were outhit 5-7 in the effort.
Trace and Brock recorded two hits apiece, and Dillon added one hit.
Up Next: St. Maries (3-6, 2-1 CIL before April 18 vs. Orofino) hosts Potlatch Friday at 4 p.m. and travels to Orofino Saturday for a doubleheader beginning at noon.
