The St. Maries wrestling team won four duals at the Clearwater Valley Duals last weekend, getting big performances from Trey Gibson and Landon Warren.
Trey was 5-1 at the tournament as his team defeated Lewiston JV, Challis, McCall-Donnelly and Orofino.
Landon was 3-3, overcoming a slow start to finish his final four matches 3-1.
St. Maries nearly upset the defending state champion, Ririe, currently ranked second in the 2A classification.
In the dual Trey defeated the state's second-ranked wrestler, and Aiden Barger defeated the state's third-ranked wrestler.
"I was really pleased with the whole stretch," Coach Dennis Humphrey said. "We wrestled a ton of matches in three days, and I really liked what I saw. Amado Stewart did a great job, he has been putting in the work and is wrestling amazing right now."
The Lumberjacks wrestled at Kellogg the day before traveling to Clearwater Valley, winning twice and losing once in a dual format event.
Up Next: St. Maries is slated to compete at the Bonners Ferry Invite Friday and Saturday at Bonners Ferry High School.
